What We Do (Our Process)
- We ensure the surface is rock-solid. This includes installing cement backer boards in wet areas or applying self-leveling compounds to uneven floors.
- We calculate the "set-out" of the tiles before we begin, ensuring the pattern is centered and avoiding awkward thin slivers of tile at the edges.
- We use the "full-bed" method to ensure there are no hollow voids behind the tiles, providing maximum strength for high-traffic areas.
Frequently asked Questions
Porcelain is denser and more durable, making it ideal for floors and outdoor areas. Ceramic is easier to cut and lighter, making it a great, cost-effective choice for kitchen or bathroom walls.
While possible if the old tiles are perfectly sound and flat, we generally recommend removing old tiles to ensure the best bond and to avoid “stepping up” the floor height too much.
We can install electric underfloor heating mats before tiling. We always recommend using a self-leveling compound over the heating wires to protect them and ensure even heat distribution.
A standard bathroom or kitchen floor usually takes 2 to 4 days. This allows time for surface preparation, tile setting, and the 24-hour curing period required before grouting.
